Our classes are structured around students learning new skills and building useful pieces, pleasing to the eye and touch. Our belief is that the satisfaction that comes from making things only increases as our skill level grows. We offer a variety of interesting projects and it’s not uncommon for a beginning student to have completed a beautiful Morris Chair after one week. What makes it possible for our students to acheive these results are small classes (2-4 students) and lots of one-on-one attention. Dugan is always present and involved with each student.
5 Day Classes are Monday through Friday and start at 8am and end at 5pm, allowing for a one-hour lunch break. Town is close by, but most students choose to eat with Dugan and Lucie (shop dog) in our park-like setting in the pines outside the shop.
Classes are for beginning to advanced students with the option to choose from a variety of pre-designed or personal projects. A finished version of every project is available, as well as templates to build the piece. Additional days are $225/day.
In this Class we demonstrate a very fast and easy method to simplify chair building. In just a couple of hours we will cut out all of the pieces, do joinery and dry assemble the chair. This method can be applied to most chair styles.
Carbon fiber can be a very useful material in woodworking, both structurally and aesthetically. This class we will demonstrate how to select and use this material to solve a variety of woodworking challenges.
In this weekend class we start at zero. Our goal is to offer beginners a safe and fun introduction to woodworking. Safe use of most of the more common hand and power tools will be thoroughly covered. Safety is a high priority and we will make sure everyone learns good habits when using power tools. Students will choose two of the three projects we offer (step stool, tool caddy or chopping board). Private Classes are tailored to the specific needs of the student, and we work side-by-side with you from conception, design and build. Typically in these classes we work with students on a personal project that they don’t feel ready to take on solo, or with a group with a common interest. Classes are limited to 1 – 4 students. $2400 / week / group
